KRISTEN SHARMA
Kristen Sharma, winner of the Iowa Small Business Development Center's 2010 Deb Dalziel Woman Entrepreneur Achievement Award, has traveled a diverse entrepreneurial journey in 25 years. It has included life coaching, marina ownership, interior design, massage therapy school ownership and now singing and songwriting. Her two current companies — Inspired, Inc. (dba East-West School of Integrative Healing Arts and A Massage Oasis) — employ more than 35 people on a full- and part-time basis. The hundreds who have graduated from her school receive the highest passing rate in the Iowa City area on their state boards. A Massage Oasis was chosen by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to start the first massage program in the hospital's history. The company has a location in the University of Iowa's Recreation & Wellness Center, serving some 30,000 people. Kristen was a regular speaker for SBDC's FastTrac classes, and in 2008 the Iowa City Chamber of Commerce voted her business person of the year. She's currently writing a song for the California Women's Conference that features business gurus Jack Canfield and Bob Proctor, which will be streamed to millions globally.

Meet an ISED Women’s Business Center Success Story - Ini Augustine, SocialWise Media Group, has been an ISED client and was the winner of NAWBO-CI's 2013 Aspiring Woman Entrepreneur Award. Ini's company is a full service digital agency for marketing across social, online, email, radio and TV platforms.

Maureen Collins-Williams
MAUREEN COLLINS-WILLIAMS
Maureen Collins-Williams is a speaker, trainer and the founder of The Entrepreneurial Communities Project, LLC. She trains more than 400 economic development professionals and community leaders nationwide each year on topics associated with innovation and entrepreneurship. She is the author of the upcoming book, WE: Women Entrepreneurs. Collins-Williams was born and raised in Iowa City and started two small companies before coming to the University of Northern Iowa in 1997. While at UNI she served in a variety of capacities, including the SBDC Director and the Director of Technology Transfer. Until December 2013, she headed up UNI’s many Entrepreneurship Outreach programs, which include MyEntre.Net’s national award winning Dream Big Grow Here contests, the Iowa EntreFest Conference, The Business Concierge, UNI's economic gardening program and the annual Iowa Small Business Survey. Collins-Williams is the recipient of the 2010 Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) Women of Innovation Award. Today, Maureen serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at UNI, where she works on primary research associated with women entrepreneurs in Iowa. She has three grown children- all entrepreneurs- and lives in a gaily painted ramshackle Queen Anne home near campus with her husband Dave, a prairie biologist.
