"Key Decisions That Drive Business Viability"

Emma Peterson
EMMA PETERSON
Emma Peterson has never had a job that she didn't create herself. When she saw a need for a change in the ticket industry, she launched Tikly in central Iowa in May of 2011 when she was 21. Tikly is a ticket platform that offers lower service fees and opens revenue streams for artists, venues and organizations looking to provide quality entertainment without excessive ticketing fees. Emma previously worked in marketing in the video game industry and as tour manager for a nationally successful band, The Nadas. She was looking for a way to sell merchandise through the Authentic Records label (label of The Nadas) using Dwolla when she began pondering a question about a way to sell tickets in the live events culture and made the connections that led to Tikly's creation. Emma, who took home the Entrepreneurial Leadership Award at the 2013 Women of Innovation recognition of the Technology Association of Iowa, calls Tikly "the brainchild of so many people who have lived on the road, owned venues, closed venues, run start-ups, sold start-ups and even had failed start-ups." Included in her more than 800 clients across 40 states and four countries are Doughty (of Soul Coughing), Langhorne Slim & the Law, The Nadas, Bess Rogers, Make-a-Wish Iowa, Cityview's Brewfest, and Vaudeville Mews.

Erin Rollenhagen
ERIN ROLLENHAGEN
Erin Rollenhagen, owner of six-year-old Entrepreneurial Technologies, is a woman focused on creating a Silicon Prairie culture in Des Moines. When Silicon Prairie News' Big Des Moines conference cancelled in 2013, Erin jumped in as a speaker for the newly created I/OWA conference for the Iowa Startup Community. Her company specializes in providing highly customized web, desktop and mobile applications for clients. She was an intern and staff member of Advanced Technologies before a side project for a local law firm led her to founding her company. A one-time English major at the University of Iowa who found she liked writing code more than prose, Erin holds degrees from the University in Iowa in economics and MIS. She's experienced as a developer, designer and team leader on a variety of projects from small company websites to large government projects.
