"Top 10 Things a CEO Needs to Know Regarding HR" with David Hansen,
SPHR, CCP - HR OneSource
CEOs need to give the same care and concern to the human resource
component of the organization that they give to financial resources and
physical resources. Their organizations must be in compliance with all
the employment laws and CEOs need to have the skills and the fortitude
to deal with this human element. When things are not going so well,
CEOs need to know how to handle employee concerns and performance
and/or behavior problems to avoid potential employee lawsuits. Attend
this session and hear some first-hand basics, and what measures CEOs
can take, to address this human resource component.

COMMON
MYTHS IN ASSOCIATION LAW -
ASSOCIATION LAW MYTH #25
(c)Beving, Swanson & Forrest,
P.C.
Mark Truesdell1
Myth:
Anybody in a meeting can bring a matter to a vote by shouting "I Call
the Question."
Fact: Robert's Rules of Order
states clearly that a Motion on the Previous Question:
- Cannot be made while a speaker is speaking..
- Requires a second.
- Is not debatable.
- Requires a two-thirds (2/3) vote.
That's just one of the gems found in this somewhat involved text. It's
hard to dig the answers to procedural questions out of Robert's Rules
when you're in the middle of a meeting. That's why, for my own benefit,
I drafted this chart covering what might be the more common Motions.
Can you interrupt the speaker? Is a second required? Is the motion
debatable? Amendable? Does it require a simple majority vote or an
extraordinary (2/3) vote? Please feel free to clip out this table and
use it. I hope it helps you some day. Happy New Year!
