BBB Investigation Gets Results: Bettendorf Sports Card Business Responds

The Better Business Bureau serving Greater Iowa, Quad Cities and Siouxland Region recently looked into and issued a consumer alert about Global Authority of Bettendorf, IA. According to the company's website, Global Authority offers "authentication and grading services for a wide spectrum of collectibles." The BBB has processed over 25 complaints against this company in the last year and has received hundreds of inquiries. Global Authority has earned an F rating with the BBB due to failure to respond to complaints, many of which are considered serious in nature.

Scam Alert:
BBB Warns Consumers about Fraudulent Computer Repair Calls


The BBB is alerting consumers of a phone scam in which the caller claims to be from Microsoft. In an effort to gain remote control access to the victim's computer, the caller offers to solve the consumer's computer problems or sell them a license for software.

BBB Offers Tips on Young Adults Falling Victim To Identity Theft

The Better Business Bureau warns that college-age adults are particularly vulnerable to identity theft and related fraudulent crimes. According to the Consumer Sentinel Network database, 56,689 consumers between the ages of 20 and 29 fell victim to identity theft in 2011. That number accounts for 23 percent of the total number of identity theft complaints reported last year; the largest out of any 10-year age range. tive offers.

The Better Business Bureau serving Greater Iowa, Quad Cities and Siouxland Region, in conjunction with the grand opening of our new office space in the Quad Cities, invites our area Accredited Businesses to join us for a special ribbon cutting ceremony and Open House on October 16th, 2012 to showcase offices and introduce you to our staff. The ribbon cutting will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. with the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce officiating.
